Product Engineer

Eaton Corporation’s Filtration Division has an opening for a Product Engineer. This position would be located in either Portage, MI or Iselin, NJ.

This position would support engineering activities for existing products to optimize manufacturability and cost competitiveness to meet company objectives for customer satisfaction, operational results and improvements to existing product lines. In addition, the incumbent will provide technical support to manufacturing and sales.

Key Responsibilities Include:

A. Develop and maintain cost effective designs and documentation for products to meet the established mechanical performance and safety guidelines. B. Insure proper flow of products from order entry to the shop floor, both with drawing support and part maintenance. C. Identify existing product deficiencies in both manufacturing and cost competitiveness. Eliminate these deficiencies through new manufacturing processes and/or design changes. D. Develop and maintain Engineering and product design files to assure accurate information is provided to manufacturing. Process and coordinate the implementation of Engineering change orders E. Provide technical support to production personnel in troubleshooting, problem solving and process improvements. F. Maintain high level of awareness with mechanical advances in the Engineering field through formal education, technical seminars and/or product design exhibitions to ensure our continued product leadership. G. Regularly demonstrate the Eaton best practices, ethics, values and philosophy. Foster an environment that promotes Eaton’s goals and philosophy and encourages continuous improvement and builds customer relationships. F. Impact measures including one or more of the following: Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost-Out, Customer Satisfaction.

Required Skills & Education:

**Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) with two years experience in manufacturing environment required. **Strong knowledge of process piping, material properties, stress design calculations and machining/welding methods preferred **Fundamental knowledge of automated systems (electrical and pneumatic devices, including the various methods of connecting these devices to process equipment and/or control panels) preferred **ASME code, welding fabrication, machining and experience in Quality Control desired **Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodology preferred **Proficiency with personal computer and related software including the use of AutoCAD. Experience with Pro-E or related 3-D solid modeling preferred. **Team-oriented problem solving skills and corrective action methodology **Organization, time management, negotiation and conflict resolution skills **Demonstrated knowledge of MFG-Pro desired **Must be fluent in English language, knowledge of Spanish language desired **Must be able to work closely with customers on large projects. J2EE Software Engineer

Eaton Corporation located in Moon Township, PA, has an opening for a J2EE Software Engineer with strong design and analysis skills as well as extensive experience with front-end and back-end development. The primary function of the full-lifecycle J2EE Software Engineer includes but is not limited to: spend 25% of his/her time working on front-end HTML designs and prototypes and 75% of his/her time working on the back-end business logic. Must have excellent analytical skills, a strong work ethic, good organizational and time management skills, ability to work independently or in a group and the ability to interact with all levels of management. Must be a highly motivated individual with excellent oral and written communication skills.

At the direction of a team leader and/or team manager, the J2EE Software Engineer will work closely with our various Electrical Group and Corporate teams to deliver J2EE solutions that support Eaton's business and IT strategic goals.


Essential functions include but are not limited to:

Work with Business Analysts and Project Managers in the Corporate Program Management Office (PMO) to:

- Review and refine project business requirements documents for clarity.
- Identify design and development artifacts that will be needed for projects.
- Review business functional requirements documents and provide technical feasibility assessments and time estimates.
- Produce technical specifications from the functional specifications that show that the functional aspects are all accounted for in the technical design.
- Produce design documents in UML to be consumed by other team members or developers from other teams so that the work can be shared.
- Develop (code/test/deploy) core/strategic/reusable pieces of systems.
- Participate in and conduct code reviews for self and other team members.
- Schedule the installation of code into our Quality and Production environments and verify the installation (change management) by following Eaton IT Change Management procedures and processes.
- Provide full-lifecycle development of Java J2EE applications.
- Deliver software projects on time and with low defects.
- Effectively communicate the status of projects to project stakeholders.
- Understands, follows and promotes use of Eaton Electrical Group IT Change Management and Project Management processes and systems. Ensures that developers understand and follow these processes as well and provides training as needed to keep team up to date.
- Develops solutions following established Eaton Electrical Group IT standards and processes.
- Provides team with database design and development knowledge and experience. Analyzes and trouble shoots database level application logic deployed as functions, procedures, packages, triggers, integrity constraints and other database objects used.
- Provides team knowledge and skills regarding J2EE application development and technologies. Must be able to analyze and trouble shoot existing Eaton Electrical Group IT J2EE applications. Will create design related documentation. Will develop generic reusable code whenever possible as part of assigned projects and tasks.

Required Skills:

- 3-5 years of experience with Enterprise level Java/J2EE application design, development and testing.

- Familiarity with SQL queries against an Oracle database.

- Clearly demonstrating understanding of database concepts
- Experience using PL/SQL Developer a plus
- Knowledge and Understanding of XML, XML Schema.
- Experience with and working knowledge of source code control tools (CVS and Clearcase preferred) and change management tools (Remedy and Kintana preferred).
- Testing of developed code using tools such as Mercury LoadRunner and JUnit. Experience with Oracle TurnKey testing suite is a plus.
- Experience with deploying applications to J2EE compliant application servers such as iPlanet, Tomcat and JBoss. (Tomcat & JBoss preferred). Administrative level experience with any is a plus.

Position Summary: Project and Technical Leader for the overall Engineering, design, scheduling, delivery and cost of large filtration projects to ensure that goals are accomplished within given time and budget parameters. Perform duties in accordance with company policy and procedures, Marketing, Sales & Financial objectives, customer requirements, Ethical Business Conduct Policy, Government Contract Regulations. Provide technical support to manufacturing and sales. Work in a fast-paced and changing environment. The position operates in a global business environment, dealing with diverse viewpoints and cultures. The focus is on process-driven continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities Include: A. Coordinate project activities with customers and/or their representatives. B. Review customer contracts to assure scope is clearly defined and terms and conditions are acceptable as well as assuring that all specified technical requirements are fulfilled with the equipment provided. C. Establish and document targeted financial goals (GM, material costs, labor, etc.). D. Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget. E. Lead decisions to modify schedules or plans as required. Effectively communicate project status through reports to management and regularly scheduled update meetings. F. Coordinate successful installation and start-up at customer site. Ensure active follow-up, resolve any warranty issues and verify all goals of the project have been met. G.
