Fall Refresher Courses Announcement
Refresher Courses
The Pittsburgh Chapter sponsors refresher
courses twice yearly for both the Engineer in Training (EIT/FE) and
Professional Engineer (civil discipline) exams. Courses meet one evening
per week to complement the semiannual examinations administered in the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
This coming fall
2008, the PE exam is scheduled for Friday, October 24 and the EIT/FE exam is
scheduled for Saturday, October 25.
The refresher courses
will be held at Robert Morris University in Moon Township. A minimum
enrollment of 8 students per course is required. A tuition fee of $350 is
charged for each course, payable to Pittsburgh Chapter, PSPE. The Fall 2008
Refresher Courses are scheduled for 9 sessions beginning Wednesday, August
27, 2008 and running through Wednesday, October 22, 2008. Each course
provides 22 hours of instruction. The deadline for course registration is
Friday, August 22, 2008. The Civil PE Review class runs concurrently on the
same dates as the EIT/FE at Robert Morris University. All classes are
scheduled from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM. For more information and registration

PSPE Basic Engineering Review Course - A Mini
Preparation for the Civil Engineering PE Review
For the first time,
the Pittsburgh Chapter of the PSPE is offering three basic engineering
review classes for people who intend to take the PSPE Civil Professional
Engineer Examination Review Classes that begin on Wednesday, August 27,
2008. The Basic Engineering Review Course is primarily for people who have
already passed the FE or EIT exam but feel a need to brush up on some of the
subjects that are of importance in the Civil PE Review.
This mini course is being offered because we have found that
many students have not used these basic skills for some period of time and
need a brief review to allow them to take full advantage of the information
presented in the PSPE Civil PE Refresher Classes. Our goal is to give all
students the best opportunity to be successful on the Civil PE Examination.
These classes will review selected topics in mathematics,
statics, strength of materials, chemistry and physics. Each of the three
classes will be 3 hours long and will be held at the Moon Campus of Robert
Morris University. The class schedule is as follows:
Date
Subject
Instructor
Wed. August 06, 2008
Mathematics Steve
Musial, P.E.
Wed. August 13, 2008 Statics & Strength of Materials
Steve Musial, P.E.
Wed. August 20, 2008 Chemistry &
Physics
Steve Musial, P.E.
All classes start at 6:00 PM. Students will be notified of
the room location two days before the first class begins.
Although this mini course is intended as preparation for the
PSPE Civil PE Review, it may be somewhat applicable for those planning on
taking the Mechanical Engineering PE Exam. Although those students who plan
on enrolling in the PSPE Fundamentals of Engineering Review Course will be
receiving instruction in the above mentioned subjects, they are also welcome
to take this mini prep course if they sense a weakness in these subject
areas.
The cost of this
mini prep course is $170. The instructor can be reached at 412-956-6448 if
anyone has any questions about this course. |
