PSPE 2009 EIT / Civil PE Examination Fall Review Courses to Start on 8/19/2009 Click here for the review course application PSPE Mini Review Course to start on 7/29/2009, Click here for the mini review course application Review Courses The Pittsburgh Chapter of PSPE sponsors review courses twice yearly for both the Engineer in Training (EIT/FE) and Professional Engineer (civil discipline) exams. These courses meet one evening per week to complement the semiannual examinations administered in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This coming Fall 2009, the PE exam is scheduled for Friday, October 23, 2009 and the EIT/FE exam is scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2009. The review courses will be held at Robert Morris University in Moon Township. A minimum enrollment of 6 students per course is required. A tuition fee of $470 is charged for each course, payable to Pittsburgh Chapter, PSPE. The Fall 2009 Review Courses are scheduled for 10 sessions beginning Wednesday, August 19, 2009 and running through Wednesday, October 21, 2009. Each course now provides 30 hours of instruction. The deadline for course registration is Friday, August 14, 2009. The Civil PE Review Course runs concurrently on the same dates as the EIT/FE Review Course at Robert Morris University. All classes are now scheduled from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Please note important new changes to the Fall 2009 EIT/FE and Civil PE Examination Review Courses: the PSPE Pittsburgh Chapter has lengthened the instruction time for both review courses by 8 hours (from 22 hours to 30 hours) by adding an extra evening of instruction and increasing the length of instruction from 2.5 hours to 3 hours each evening. The EIT/FE Review Course will now have 2 sessions covering mathematics , which is 20% of the EIT/FE exam, and the Civil PE Review Course will now have 2 sessions of Construction Management, which is 20% of the morning Civil PE Exam. For these reasons, the cost of both review courses has increased proportionately from $350 to $470 per course. Feedback from our students has indicated that these improvements to the professional review courses are necessary for the type of preparation that is currently needed to be successful in passing both engineering exams. For more information and registration materials for these courses, please check the Chapter web-site http://www.PittsburghPE.org or contact the Chapter office at 412-391-0615. Feel free to contact the Review Course Director, Steven Musial, P.E., at 412-956-6448 for additional class information. NOTE: APPLICATION FOR THIS REVIEW COURSE DOES NOT CONSTITUTE APPLICATION TO THE COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA FOR PERMISSION TO TAKE EXAMINATION. Once again the Pittsburgh Chapter of the PSPE is offering a Basic Engineering Review Course beginning July 29, 2009 which covers five subjects for people who intend to take the PSPE Civil Professional Engineer Examination Review Course, which begins on Wednesday, August 19, 2009. The Basic Engineering Review Course (Mini Review) is primarily for people who have already passed the FE or EIT exam but feel a need to brush up on some of the subjects that are of importance in the PSPE Civil PE Examination Review Course or plan on taking the Mechanical PE Exam. A minimum enrollment of 5 students is required. This mini course is being offered because we have found that many students have not used these basic skills for some period of time and need a brief review to allow them to take full advantage of the information presented in the PSPE Civil PE Examination Review Course. Our goal is to give all students the best opportunity to be successful on the PE Examination. These classes will review selected topics in mathematics, statics, strength of materials, engineering economics and physics. Each of the three classes will be 3 hours long and will be held at the Moon Campus of Robert Morris University. The class schedule is as follows: Date

Instructor All classes are scheduled from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Students will be notified of the room location two days before the first class begins. Although this mini review course is intended as preparation for the PSPE Civil PE Examination Review Course, it may be somewhat applicable for those planning on taking the Mechanical Engineering PE Exam. Although those students who plan on enrolling in the PSPE EIT/FE Review Course will be receiving instruction in the above mentioned subjects, they are also welcome to take this mini review course if they sense a weakness in these subject areas. The cost of this mini review course is $170. The instructor, Steven Musial, P.E., can be reached at 412-956-6448 if anyone has any questions about this course.
